Hello dear crafty friends,
"Flow with the creative magic!!"
Yes, the reason to chose this quote is self explanatory I feel! Today, I will be sharing the learnings from the Altenew Acdemy class : Creative watercolor media.
I always get excited with watercolors and as much as I want to explore, do more with this creative medium, it takes lot of patience along with practice to reach the level I have imagined in my head.
I feel very happy when I see my imagination come to life through my art and this time was no different! At the same time, I don't like to lose the control, the medium of watercolor is like that, sometimes it creates wonders when you let it losse and dance on the paper. Possibilities are endless and I am a hoarder of many different brands of watercolors and watercolor papers. I just loooove them. There are many different cardmakers who influence my style and have learnt a lot from them. This creation though holds purely my style and I love it so much.
Here comes my 2 different ways of take on the learnings from this class and hope you will feel happy seeing it and maybe get inspired to take some action and create magic yourself.
My creation details:
Creation 1-
I wanted to make a home decor style creation and Altenew's big stamps (6*8) always comes handy for those purposes. I took an Arches watercolor paper, used the lightest ink from Altenew family (As I was going for the no-line coloring) look, stamped the images. Then I chose my color combos (I wanted to keep them bright and at the same time not overpowering each other). Since I chose the cool side of the spectrum, I decided to mute the leaves by chosing browns.
Once my arrangement and color scheme was finalized, it was all about just playing around with shades, shadows and strokes. Super fun and relaxing exercise I must say. Once done with multiple layers, added some dark depth shadows on leaves, white gel pen details, splitter and splatters and let the creation dry up for few days.
Once done, framed it and here is the result:
Stamp : Courageous You
Watercolors : Artists watercolor pan 36 set (Persian Blue, Puffy heart, Desert night, Ocean waves, mountain mist + espresso, mocha, paper bag + grapevine, rubellite, cosmic berry, purple vine, pink diamond)
Others: white gel pen and white gouache

Card 2:
Now, I was deciding, how well and in more ways I can explore the medium and do something not done before alongwith the learnings from the class.
Hence, I decided to go for negative painting look with the just leaves stamps. Also, monochromatic scheme serves me well sometimes, as it takes away the pressure of thinking about color combos. Then, at last, just arranged it in a way, that creation can be framed. Also, wrote a die cut sentiment saying 'hello'.
Maybe next time I will try negative painting style with rainbow colors? Let's hope and try :)
Die : Just Leaves, Hello sentiment die
Watercolors : Artists watercolor pan 36 set (Desert night, dusk, ocean waves, lagoon)
Others: gold paint and white gouache

Super fun ideas and class to work with!
I can play more with watercolors as it is my area of interest, but it takes a lot of time to create even a small art piece and hope I can find more time going forward to focus with such creations.
Thanks a lot for reading and see you in my next one.
Regards
Disha
