Altenew Academy: Level 1- For the Guys

Hey there crafty friends.

                                                   "Learning never exhausts the mind"

Would you agree with me here or the quote above? It never ever create any dull moment in anyone's life, but rather empowers and pave new ways for us all. It is a shining light which we must grow and tackle within self.

Altenew academy is giving me such a platform and I am really enjoying this journey so far. Every lesson comes with something new, a learning to stay with me forever. It is helping me build my technique journal of the card making in all ways possible.

Masculine theme is little tough to tackle, specially when you don't have specific related stamps or stencils or tools to showcase the theme. But sometimes, even using the normal products (not the specific ones developed for a masculine theme), but changing the color combos, changing sentiments, cardstock base color, using some masculine items, geometric elements etc. we can achieve it and it's so cool to try something new with same products.

Below 2 cards will showcase the same today. I chose to not use any specific stencil/stamp/embossing folder, which is kind of giving masculine impact, but rather chose the simple floral stamps/dies/embossing folders from my stash and give it a spin which will create the whole card to look nice for masculine theme.

Also, I can easily give these cards to the men in my life and I don't think they will object it being floral, because I have added either the touch of color in the way or the grungy textures, that it will add up all for a crisp masculine theme. You will understand more when you see the pictures.

The techniques/Learnings from this class are as follows (For the guys): Geometrics, artisitic techniques, cards for boys, interactive cards, Pop art, gaming.

My creation details:

Card 1-

How to: I have used galaxy colors to make the floral dies work for the masculine theme and to give it a bit of elegance, chose to use the balck cardstock as the base. I have done in-laid technique with the die cut pieces. One cardtsock was cut in black, another in white (on which i did galaxy inking) and then inlaid colored pieces onto the black die cut spaces.

StampSentiment strip 2

Die: Antique Engravings Cover Die

Ink ColorsCitrus Burst, fresh lemon, Chamomile, Aqualicious, Azurite, Sapphire, Hydrangea, Ultraviolet, Pinkalicious, Purple Vine.

Others: Antique Gold heat embossing powder, gold glitter cardstock.

Card 2-

How to: I was not meaning to make any card, but rather a kind of art to put into a photoframe and hence, you cannot see any sentiment on this one. I would put that on the need basis as per the chosen recipient. Also, i decided to keep this little grungy with just showcasing the texture and to not make it look dull, I added gold wax on top of the embossed image + altenew's brass matt cardstock to assign a border to the whole image.

Embossing folder: Floral Acanthus (Craft your life kit)

Wax Color: Gold

Others: Stonhenge gray paper, brass matt cardstock

Lastly, some more images/close-ups for both the creations are here-

I love ink blending, but I hardly try it so often as the main technique for my creations. This class pushed me to do some fun with the ink blending and allowed me to channalise this tech in so many special ways.

Hope the post will make you smile and inspire and would love for your beautiful comments / suggestions here. Thanks for visiting the blog.
