Hello again my dear fellow crafty friends :)
"Magic becomes art when it has nothing to hide"
Hide and seek? What did you say? Hahahaha, yes but this quote felt quite natural while I was doing this post. I usually try to avoid masking as it has extra steps to think, ideate and even perform, but I must say, this class pushed me to think in ways I was trying to avoid from long!
Masking unleashed - beautiful name no? When the masking is unleashed, what beauty comes out, even though you have ideated it well, it is still fun to watch that unleashing! super fun class and tips and tricks.
So, without further ado, let's take a look at my takes on the learnings from the class and maybe get inspired to take some action and create magic yourself or atleast take up this class. Or take up that masking tape, masking paper and have fun!
It also removes the monotony of using same techniques everytime :)
My creation details:
Creation 1-
I had not used my colored pencils for long and florals are my heart (for the most of the times). I decided this is the time to have fun with them and also, the floral stamp image of hydrangea was one I had not used in such a long time. Also, the color scheme I had in mind, was almost fitting to the hydrangea flowers. If you have seen the petals of the hydrangeas closely, it has multiple shades and vines in it. I love them and I get them every spring for my home. So they are close to my heart :)
I decided to change the style or you can say the placement of the florals to be on the end edge of the card. it shows like a floral bunch (like how actually hydrangeas are always in bunches). This I achieved through masking paper for repeated stamping. Once done, it was very simple (just had to color the way I like) and added the sentiment on top of the florals bunch. This also covers the design principles of 1/3 rule. Added some sequins and no splatters this time (to keep it simple).
Once done, the result is here:
Stamp : Paint a flower- hydrangea, Say it with Love sentiment
Pencil colors: Caran d'ache Luminance pencils (083, 112, 630, 129, 120, 820, 832, 571, 181, 861, 171, 662, 821)
Others: white gel pen, white sequins

As I always create 2 different variations when I learn any Altenew academy class, I wanted to create another version which shows a landscape scene.
Good luck, that I had the stamp set: Enjoy the journey and I really love this train stamp set a lot. I have more ideas on the same, but to achieve masking technique, this was my idea.
I wanted to make a night scene with big full moon, starry night and monochromatic scene with some purples. That beautiful bridge, a slow moving steam train, wow, such a beautiful scene idea right? This was my theme and this is how I did it:
Stamp : Enjoy your journey
Altenew ink colors: Purple shades (deep iris, midnight violet, ultraviolet, andromeda), some dark brown watercolor for the mountain
Others: white gel pen, obsidian black ink, gouache splatters, pearl sparkle water

This was a super fun class and I enjoyed my heart with all the tricks I wanted to try from so long. This class really pushed me to again start masking techniques and have fun. I hope this gives you some idea and inspiration to follow along.
I would love to know your thoughts on the same and see you in my next post.
Lots of love and care
